Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110 - Lenovo's First Q Series Mini PC

When we first heard about the Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110 we were as surprised as you are. We didn't hear about any Q models before, so we immediately started to gather intel. And where could we find more info but in Lenovo's own website? We found out that the Q series is a mini PC, classified by Lenovo as a super tiny and powerful computer that features state of the art graphics, a high definition output, and lots of storage space. This sounded so interesting that we placed an order. It took just 9 to get the mini PC and when it arrived we were immediately in love with its design. It was indeed tiny, but also very stylish and elegant. We think everyone will love it just as much as we did. Don't expect too much power from it due to its small size. However, we found it to be quite agile and versatile due to its high quality components. After we put it to the test, we were surprised how well it did. Here are its test results and some notable technical specs.

We started by testing Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110's most important hardware component, the central processing unit (CPU). We were surprised to find a small Intel ATOM 230 processor working at just a frequency of 1.60 GHz, on a small front side bus of 533 MHz, and with an L2 cache of no more than 512 KB. Although its specs suggest otherwise, this processor is very agile and managed to pass our tests with brio, although a little harder at some points. Well, we didn't expect too much processing power in the first place so we rate the CPU 8 out of 10 points.

Next it was time to put Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110's random access memory (or RAM as everyone likes to call it) to the test. We found 2 GB of PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM working at a speed of just 667 MHz. Again, due to the small dimensions of this mini PC, we didn't expect more. The memory behaved very well, aside using the DDR2 technology. We give it 9 out of 10 for its good performance. The hard disk drive, a 160 GB unit, is large enough to store all our files, but its speed of just 5400 rotations per minute was clearly an issue. We can only give the Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110 7 out of 10 points here. An NVIDIA ION graphics processing unit provided good crisp graphics and scored another 8 points.
